The Gutsy Plucky Players @ 7PM

Welcome to the inaugural concert of the resident baroque ensemble of SandBox- The Gutsy Plucky Players. These concerts invite to you witness music of the 17th, 18th centuries played on the intended strings crafted from sheep's gut and as close as possible - authentic gear. There is a rawness and vulnerability in the sound that cannot be found in today's modern steel strings. The music is so creative and innovative. Jazz musicians recognize the importance of baroque music as the foundation for the art of improvisation. The newness of it all will come to life in our program featuring founding member of Ensemble Affect, Paulina Kempf  on violin and the director of San Francisco Early Music Society, Derek Tam on harpsichord. Resident cellist and curator of SandBox Michelle Djokic will bring her gut stringed cello out for this joyous event.
