New Canon 2023 Season Launch Party

Established in 2022, New Canon Theatre Company (NCTC) is a professional, not-for-profit performing arts organization working in found and temporary spaces. Currently based in Monterey, CA. New Canon is dedicated to fostering new works through their Theatre Lab, as well as mounting daring re-imaginings of the established classical and contemporary canons. Through equitable and inclusive collaboration, artistry, and community engagement, New Canon Theatre Co. aims to create theatre that reflects and celebrates humanity’s diverse and ever-evolving cultural and social landscapes. 

New Canon Theatre Co. is celebrating & preparing for its second season with four riveting & thought provoking productions; Shakespeare’s classic comedy Much Ado About Nothing, then a World Premier of a NEW play, Finding Chase, by C. Wright, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by Artistic Director Justin Gordon, and Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, examining Billie Holiday’s last performance before her death. 

The lineup of productions by New Canon Theatre promises to be an exciting & inspiring experience, covering themes of love, loss, and redemption. With the opportunity to see a world premiere, new takes on classics, and a musical bio play about a jazz icon done the New Canon way, it is certainly something worth celebrating & learning more about at the launch party! The event will feature live music by Orchid Saloon (Glenn Bell & Chelsea Riddle of The BASSment). Auction items from hotel accommodations to local artist prints! Raffles, Lite Bites, Wine & Beer Tastings by Hahn Family Wines and Other Brother Beer Co. and most importantly, hear from the New Canon Team on what’s next, the vision for the future, and how you can help.
