About the Event

Rosie Lee Tompkins (1936–2006) is widely considered one of the most brilliant and inventive quiltmakers of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Her reputation has grown to the point where her work is no longer considered solely within the context of quilting, but celebrated among the great American artistic achievements of our time. Jazz harpist, Destiny Muhammad has created an improvised sonic suite entitled "Guided by Something More Powerful" inspired by the work of Rosie Lee Tomkins. This performance will include images of Ms. Tompkins masterpiece quilts on on loan from the Berkeley Art Museum. Please join us in this inspiring celebration of the Winter Solstice.
