Alex Cuba is a Grammy- and Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist known for blending Latin, soul, jazz, and pop into a warm, genre-defying sound.
Born Alexis Puentes in Artemisa, Cuba, he grew up surrounded by music—his father was a guitarist and music teacher—and by the age of six he was already learning the guitar. After moving to Canada in the late 1990s, he began shaping a style that departed from traditional Cuban arrangements, favoring melodic songwriting, soulful grooves, and a smooth, heartfelt vocal delivery.
His music often features Spanish lyrics infused with contemporary pop sensibility, yet retains the rhythmic sophistication of his Cuban roots. He’s recognized for his minimalist yet rich guitar work, poetic lyrics, and warm stage presence that draws audiences in with authenticity and charm.
